**UPDATE**

There have been some rumors floating around this morning about GLFFA being cancelled. This is due to a new city mandate about not having events with more than 10 ppl. However, we have gotten approval to go ahead and have GLFFA. HOWEVER, we will have city officials at the show so we have to make sure that EVERY RULE is followed or they will shut it down mid show.

To make sure that GLFFA can happen for our kids this year please adhere to all these rules and those that were previously posted.

-- New rules -- 

No hanging around/loitering (in the parking lots) 

If you are in the lot (preparing animals etc) you must SOCIAL DISTANCE and WEAR A MASK. 

*No one will be allowed in the barn unless your child is actively showing*  I know this will be hard as we often consider the other kids in our barn "our kids".. but we have to limit the people in that area.  This will mean taking pictures and sharing them on our Shutterfly account will be that much more important this year. 

Please make sure that everyone (kids included) follow all these protocols so that we can continue with the show. 

-- There will be extra COVID precautions taken during the GLFFA show this year. 

The main thing is that each exhibitor will only be allowed to have TWO guests attend the show (the only exception is siblings under the age of 5 do not count towards the 2 guests).  Please get the names of your two attendees to your ag teachers in class on Friday or Monday.  This is a rule imposed by LISD and is a requirement for us to be able to hold this event.  There are no other exceptions etc.  Wristbands will be passed out daily and will be a different color for each day. 

Masks will be REQUIRED everywhere on the school campus.  

Everyone will be required to fill out a google form screener upon entering the show barn area. (daily)

There will be no concessions so please bring your own drinks/snacks.  When eating please practice social distancing. 

Other info- 

The "move in" times listed on the schedule are when the barn opens.  You can not get there before that time (4pm on Thursday/Friday and 6am Saturday) You don't have to be there at that time.. again that is when the barn opens.  You have to be moved in (or have your trailer there) before the show starts.  

Weight cards-  We will be doing weight cards via google form this year.  You can weigh at the Show barn OR at our barn.  We will post QR codes for each species the day before the show.  We will get the information next week about how far off our scales are from theirs.  Where you weigh will be at your discretion but remember that weigh backs will happen at LHS.  

Pigs are moving in Saturday Morning and not Friday night.  If you plan on showing off your trailer, remember that spots are first come first serve.  It is best if we can work together to haul. 

Please tell Mrs. M if you need the school to haul you by Monday so we can plan accordingly.

We also want to encourage our kids to participate in showmanship.  This is a great additional opportunity for prizes but also gets to showcase the hard work that you have put in to preparing your animals.

-- Cattle Show will be separated into a Steer show and a Heifer show. 

-- Show will be spread out this year starting on THURSDAY night with Rabbits (Breeding only not meat pens this year) and Cattle, FRIDAY will be lamb & goats, and Saturday will be Pigs. 

--Show dates are Thursday, January 21st - Saturday, January 23rd. 

-- Rouse is on the TAKE DOWN TEAM this year.  All ROUSE Exhibitors that participate in the GLFFA show must help clean up and take down the show.  TAKE DOWN will happen on Sunday, January 24th at 9am.   

-- No Auction this year.  Buckle & Ribbon show. 

-- We still need more parent volunteers for the following GLFFA committees PLEASE PLEASE let Mrs. H know if you can help in any of these areas

-- projects, livestock, awards, fundraising, scholarships

Applications are due Wednesday, Jan 6th.  
Interviews will be Thursday, Jan 7th with a start time of 4:30 pm, 8-minute intervals. Sign up for interview is at the end of the application. Please be early. 

Please wear FFA Official Dress.  If you do not have official dress you can borrow it from the chapter.  Or you can wear nice interview clothes/show clothes if you do not have FFA Official Dress.

Reminder: only 9^th-12^th grade students AND students that have NOT previously served on the team in years past are eligible to apply. All applicants will get an interview. 12 will be selected to serve on the team. 2 from the 12 will be selected as the “Top Hands” and will receive a belt buckle.

All applications must be in Mrs. M or Mrs. H's hands by 3:55pm on Thursday, January 14th.

The GLFFA livestock show entry form for this year is under the documents section below.  Or you can pick up a copy from the FFA forms hanging folder in Mrs. H's room (we will also print some and put them at the barn).  Application deadline is January 14th

All applications must be in Mrs. M or Mrs. H's hands by 3:55pm on Thursday, January 14th.
