NEW 2021 UPDATE-- PLEASE READ--

In case you missed the Major Show Team Meeting-  here is the INFO that was presented.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

NEW 2020 UPDATE-- PLEASE READ--

Good Morning --- this was posted on the ROUSE FFA GOOGLE CLASSROOM.  ALL ATTACHMENTS CAN BE FOUND THERE BUT ALSO ON THE DOCUMENTS SECTION OF THIS PAGE (AT THE BOTTOM)

Every year the ag teachers are allowed to "take" our students to ONE major show per species.  This year will look a little different due to COVID (we will have all the new rules finalized and out to you as soon as LISD finishes tweaking them), but at this point I know we will not be able to take kids in the trucks with us.  We will be able to haul animals but not kids**.  Parents will need to bring kids.  **They have let us know that the official APPROVAL for teacher travel will not be until 2 weeks before any event (they will evaluate if there are covid outbreaks etc in the towns we are traveling to).  This being said if we CAN'T haul your animals (if it doesn't get approved) we will do our best to help you figure out alternate arrangements.  We just want to be as up front about the fact that LISD could come back and say NO TEACHER TRAVEL at the last minute so that you know that before you register/ pay for any shows.  Also remember that shows can still get cancelled.  There are no guarantees which is something we definitely learned last year.  So make sure you read the entry paperwork and know what you are risking (they might keep some of the money, etc).

This year the show we will be hauling to (pending approval) will be -

Cattle - Houston
Pigs - Houston
Lambs/ Goats - Houston
Rabbits - Houston

(Yep we decided to roll out to Houston with everyone this year.. fingers crossed aka - pending approval).

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has not posted their entry paperwork at this time (we have been waiting as they announced that it *should* be out this week... but we decided to just give you as much info as we could without the actual paperwork.)

Hopefully this paperwork will be out in the next day or so.. if so this is the plan---

We will edit this post with the entry worksheet.  We will also print copies of the worksheet and leave them at the barn-- They will be in the last locker in the back row (closest to the bathroom).

Houston Entry forms need to be filled out ENTIRELY and NOTARIZED.

Both Ag teachers will be on the FFA Zoom link Friday during Advocate (11:45am- 12:10pm) to answer any questions you have about filling out the paperwork.

These forms and all the entry fees will be due MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9th no later than 4:15pm.  We will be at the barn from 4-4:15 on that Monday collecting paperwork from virtual students, but if you want to bring it to campus before Monday afternoon you can drop it off at the front desk and they will get it to us.  If you are writing a check please make it out to ROUSE HIGH SCHOOL.

I know that the deadline online is December 1st, however as a reminder we will always set the deadline for early November like this so that we can get a school check cut (this process takes a few weeks) and the entries submitted online.  All junior show entries MUST be entered online by the ag teacher.  If you are interested in showing at the open show as well you can do those entries on your own OR simply ask your ag teacher and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Other Major shows-- If you want to attend other major shows (San Angelo, San Antonio, Austin, etc) on your own please let us know ASAP.  Paperwork for those shows will also be due to your ag teachers by Monday, November 9th at 4:15pm.  If you need us to print the paperwork for you please let us know before Friday and we will be happy to print that out for you and leave it at the barn.  We will go ahead and attached/print the paperwork for San Antonio here (will be in that last locker in the barn by this afternoon) as we know some of you are planning to attend San Antonio on your own this year.

We have attached (the documents are on google classroom and at the bottom of this page) --

-- The zoom link

https://leanderisd.zoom.us/j/91076134662?pwd=ZXdLallSWHEyWTBhazA0NDgxWG1jZz09

Meeting ID: 910 7613 4662
Passcode: Ch3PZ5

-- A sheet with your Quality Counts Number.  If you have not completed this please do so ASAP as you will need it for this entry paperwork.
-- The HLSR tentative schedule
-- The entry form for San Antonio (again we are not hauling here this year but know that many of you want to attend this show-- the forms will be due by Monday, Nov 9th as well)

** If Houston does not post their entry paperwork by Friday at noon*** we will adjust the due date, but if it is out by Friday we will stick to the Monday, Nov 9th deadline.  So be prepared-- you need the EXHIBITOR'S (students) Social Security Number and the forms will need to be notarized.  (UPS Stores and USPS - post offices are great places to get things notarized).

If you have questions about any of this info please EMAIL your ag teachers and we will help you.

Entry Deadlines

Major Show entries (for San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, Austin) and payments will be due to your ag teacher by Nov 9, 2020 @ 4:15pm.  So that we can get checks cut and entries submitted by Dec 1st 2020.

Rouse FFA Show Team Schedule and Info

Schedule - THIS WILL BE UPDATED FOR 2020 SCHEDULE ASAP. The link below goes to an sheets file that has the schedules listed for WCLA, GLFFA, and each of the Major Stock shows that members of the Rouse FFA Show Team will be competing.  There is a tab at the bottom for each of these shows.

Rouse Show Team Schedule

The schedule also shows which teacher is hauling to each show OR if the school is not hauling but students have chosen to haul themselves.  (If it says **Needs a truck or suburban -- please ignore this .. this is just so we can make sure we rent an extra vehicle because our one ROUSE FFA truck can't be in two places at once:)

The spacing may seem odd on the file but it so that if you choose to print it out it will be easier to read or you can choose to just print the info for your trip.

Hotels -  Families are responsible for booking their own hotel accommodations.  You can use the schedule provided to help you book your hotel dates. We will provide the hotel information for where each teacher will be staying during overnight trips in case you want to book at the same location. Please ask if you have specific questions.

HOTEL INFO COMING ASAP.

Some Hotel FAQs
 -  If we move in during the wee hours of the morning you usually will not need a hotel room for the night before as you will be sleeping in the truck while in the trailer line:) -- 2020 Adjustment-- KIDS Will not be in the truck with ag teachers this year BUT will need to be on the grounds and ready to help unload when we pull the trailer around.
 -  If you make auction most shows don't require you to stay for the week or so that might be between your show and the auction (they will have someone feed your animal etc) HOWEVER, you should contact the show or look in the premium book to check on this if you feel like this might be something you need to know:)

Parent Chaperones - Per LISD each student has to have a parent accompany them to these shows.   IF you can not accompany your child please find one of the parents that is going to be responsible for your child.  (We will need an email that states "my child will be staying with "so and so" who will be responsible for them during this trip.  Please copy in the parent (so and so) as they will need to reply that they agree to this.
